Book Quizzes by Title

A free book quiz for 133 classic novels — eight questions each on plot, characters and famous lines, with every answer explained. Two minutes per quiz, instant score, no signup. For a mixed round across the whole canon, take the original book quiz.

Scoring is one point per question with a tier at the end — 8/8 makes you a superfan of that title, 6–7 a certified reader, and anything under 4 a polite nudge toward the shelf. Scores are private and nothing needs an account; the share button at the end is for settling arguments. Teachers use the quizzes as five-minute warm-ups, book clubs as spoiler-free check-ins before the meeting, and solo readers as a way to decide which reread actually earns a weekend.

How the quizzes work

Every quiz follows the same format: eight multiple-choice questions, one point each, answer revealed the moment you click. The questions stick to what a genuine reader retains — who did what, who said the famous line, how it ends — and skip trivia only a scholar would know. Scored 8/8 tiers you as a superfan; under 4 means the book wants a reread. When a quiz stumps you, that wrong answer is a reading recommendation — pair it with the what book should I read quiz to turn the gaps into your next book, and the reading times list to see what that next book costs in hours.

Book quiz FAQ

Are these quizzes free? Yes — every quiz on the site is free, needs no account, and works on a phone. Answers are explained right below each quiz in an expandable list.

Which quiz should I start with? Start with the book you read most recently — the gap between “I know this” and your actual score is the fun part. From there, climb your shelf: the neighbors in each genre group above are natural next attempts.

What is a good score? 6/8 or better means the book genuinely stuck. 8/8 puts you in superfan territory. Anything lower is not a failure — it is a curated rereading list.

Do you add new quizzes? Yes — the shelf grows over time, grouped by genre above. The mixed 15-question round on the homepage stays the flagship: take the book quiz first if you want one quiz to rule them all.
