CHERUB Books in Order
CHERUB is the answer to a single brilliant question: who would criminals never suspect? Children. Robert Muchamore's orphan-spies - raised on a campus, trained in martial arts and languages, sent undercover where adults cannot go - made his books the most-banned-and-most-devoured shelf in UK school libraries, eleven million copies across nearly forty languages. The complete run is three linked eras: twelve CHERUB missions with James Adams, five Aramov missions with Ryan Sharma, and Henderson's Boys, the seven-novel WWII line showing how Charles Henderson founded the whole thing in occupied Europe. The order debate - written order or WWII first - is real and this page settles it, along with the transatlantic title swap that mismatches American and British shelves (2004–2016).
Where to start
The Recruit (2004), the debut that begins with James's worst week and ends with his first mission. It is the book the series was built to sell, and every later era assumes it. The Henderson's Boys first route is for readers who want the WWII origins before the modern campus - it works, but it is the director's cut, not the front door.

Does the reading order matter?
Written order: CHERUB 1-12 (The Recruit, 2004, through Shadow Wave, 2010) with James Adams; then the Aramov line (People's Republic, 2011, through New Guard, 2016) with Ryan Sharma, which ends by uniting both casts. Henderson's Boys (The Escape, 2009, through Scorched Earth, 2013) is the prequel line - it was published interleaved with the main series, which is why the table's years overlap, and it stands alone. The one trap for American readers: book two is The Dealer in the UK and Class A in the US - same book, different shelves. Shadow Wave ends James's era; if you stop anywhere, that is the designed exit.
Which one is the best?
The Recruit (2004) for the door; Class A / The Dealer (2004) is the fan-consensus peak mission; The Killing (2005), the drugs-war entry, still gets cited as the one schools tried to ban; and New Guard (2016) lands the whole 24-book machine in one finale.
