Keeper of the Lost Cities Books in Order
Keeper of the Lost Cities is the middle-grade fantasy that outgrew its shelf: Sophie Foster, twelve years old, who discovers she is an elf living among humans, and a twelve-book saga of telepathy, lost cities, matchmaking scandals and a conspiracy that keeps unmasking the wrong adults - one of the most obsessively reread series in school libraries, with a tenth book now the most awaited object in its fandom. The order question is nearly clean - one series, strictly numerical - but the newest release created real confusion: Unraveled arrived in November 2024 labeled 9.5, a Keefe-perspective book, and lists that shelve it as book ten are wrong. Where book ten actually stands, as of October 2026 (2012–present).
Where to start
Keeper of the Lost Cities (2012), book one - Sophie's discovery, the Lost Cities, and the read-all-night hook the fandom is built on. It is a middle-grade door that grows up with its reader; start at the beginning and never skip.

Does the reading order matter?
Strict numerical order, one through nine, then Unraveled (9.5) after Stellarlune. The series is one continuous serialized story - the Black Swan conspiracy, the matchmaking arc and the Keefe thread all accumulate, and each book assumes full memory of the last. Unraveled (2024) is labeled 9.5 because it retells the aftermath of Stellarlune from Keefe's perspective rather than advancing the plot: read it after book nine, and expect it to reframe more than it moves. A tenth book is expected - retailers list a 2027 date and the fandom circulates the name Elysian - but nothing is officially announced, so treat both as rumor. The short stories and special editions are optional garnish.
Which one is the best?
Nightfall (2017) is the fandom's recurring peak; Legacy (2019) lands the biggest reveal about Sophie's origins; Stellarlune (2022) is the most recent mainline event; Unraveled (2024) is the Keefe showcase fans had begged for since book two.
