Vampire Academy Books in Order
Vampire Academy is the series that made vampire school a genre of its own: Rose Hathaway, a half-vampire dhampir, is guardian-in-training to her best friend Lissa, a full Moroi princess with a dangerous gift - and their school, St. Vladimir's, runs on politics, feeder ethics, and the Strigoi waiting outside the wards. Richelle Mead's six novels (2007-2010) hit the twilight-era peak, spawned the Bloodlines spin-off (six more novels, 2011-2015, following the alchemist Sydney Sage), a 2014 film, and a 2022 Peacock television series. Both series are complete, which makes the order question refreshingly simple. This page sequences all twelve books (2007–2015).
Where to start
Vampire Academy (2007), book one - there is no other door; the arc across all six is one story. Readers who finished it: Bloodlines (2011) picks up with Sydney directly after Last Sacrifice.

Does the reading order matter?
Two series, each strict, and read in this order. Vampire Academy: Vampire Academy (2007), Frostbite (2008), Shadow Kissed (2008), Blood Promise (2009), Spirit Bound (2010), Last Sacrifice (2010) - complete. Bloodlines: Bloodlines (2011), The Golden Lily (2012), The Indigo Spell (2013), The Fiery Heart (2013), Silver Shadows (2014), The Ruby Circle (2015) - complete, and it shares characters and consequences with the parent series, so finish Last Sacrifice first. The spin-off outgrew its origin with many readers: Sydney's alchemist world and its romance are the reason the twelve-book universe holds its fandom. The 2014 film adapts book one loosely and badly; the 2022 Peacock series adapts book one across eight episodes and stops there - cancelled after one season.
Which one is the best?
Shadow Kissed (2008), the third-act swing the fandom still quotes; Last Sacrifice (2010), the finale that lands; The Fiery Heart (2013), the Bloodlines peak.
