Stephenie Meyer Books in Order
Stephenie Meyer is the author whose dream - literally, a June 2003 dream about a boy and a girl in a meadow - produced the fastest-selling young-adult series in publishing history: 160 million copies of the Twilight Saga, a film franchise that grossed three billion dollars, and a cultural reset that created the paranormal-romance decade. Her shelf is small and strange: four Twilight novels in two years (2005-08), one adult science-fiction novel (The Host, 2008) whose sequels were announced and never came, a novella, a thriller, one notorious gender-swapped reissue (Life and Death, 2015) - and then Midnight Sun (2020), the Edward's-side retelling fans waited twelve years for. Nothing has followed it. This page sequences the whole shelf, including the sequels that were promised and never arrived (2005–present).
Where to start
Twilight (2005), chapter one of the saga - there is no other entry. The Host (2008) is fully standalone for readers who want the adult book.

Does the reading order matter?
The saga is strict: Twilight (2005), New Moon (2006), Eclipse (2007), Breaking Dawn (2008). Midnight Sun (2020) is Twilight retold from Edward's side - read it directly after Twilight, or after the whole saga; it spoils Breaking Dawn quietly. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (2010) is an Eclipse-era novella, read after Eclipse. Life and Death (2015) is a reissue, not a sequel - Twilight with the genders swapped, a tenth-anniversary stunt worth one read. The Host (2008) is fully standalone; its announced sequels, The Seeker and The Soul, have never been published. The Chemist (2016) is an adult thriller, unrelated.
Which one is the best?
Twilight (2005), the meadow that started it; Eclipse (2007), the fandom's pick of the four; and The Host (2008), the adult novel that deserves a bigger audience than it got.
