Orson Scott Card Books in Order
Orson Scott Card won the Hugo and Nebula for Ender's Game and the same double for its sequel - the only back-to-back double in the genre's history - and then built a career of parallel series around it. The Enderverse alone is two intertwined sagas (Ender's line and Bean's Shadow line) that finally converge in The Last Shadow (2021); beyond it sit the American-fantasy Alvin Maker books, the Homecoming series, and the Pathfinder trilogy. The fork question - which Ender line to read - has its own guide page on this site; this page maps the whole career. One honest note: the seventh Alvin Maker book has been owed for twenty years, and Wikipedia's own date range for the series runs to 2026 with no title in sight (1985–present).
Where to start
Ender's Game (1985), always. The fork after it is mapped on our Ender's Game guide.

Does the reading order matter?
The Enderverse spine, in order: Ender's Game (1985), Speaker for the Dead (1986), Xenocide (1991), Children of the Mind (1996) - the Ender line, four books, tonally half-mystery half-theology. The Shadow line: Ender's Shadow (1999, the same story through Bean's eyes), Shadow of the Hegemon (2001), Shadow Puppets (2002), Shadow of the Giant (2005), Shadows in Flight (2012) - the geopolitical line, and the one readers who loved the game in book one prefer; the full fork logic, with both reading paths, is on our Ender's Game page. The Last Shadow (2021) is the finale both lines had been owed for twenty-five years - read it only after both. Children of the Fleet (2017) is a Fleet School side door. Off the Enderverse: The Tales of Alvin Maker (1987-2003, six books) is the American frontier fantasy, unfinished - Master Alvin, the promised seventh, has never appeared; Homecoming (1992-1995, five books) is the Latter-day-Saints-in-space epic; the Formic War prequels (2012-2019, five books with Aaron Johnston) feed the backstory and slot before Ender's Game in story-time; the Pathfinder trilogy (2010-2014) is the time-travel YA line. The rest is short fiction, comics and screenwork. One career, many doors; the Enderverse first
Which one is the best?
Ender's Game (1985); Speaker for the Dead (1986); Ender's Shadow (1999).
