Dennis E. Taylor spent decades as a Vancouver programmer before self-publishing Outland in 2015, and the second career became the bigger one: We Are Legion (We Are Bob) turned into the Bobiverse, the series about a dead engineer repurposed as a self-replicating space probe that Audible listeners passed around until it was a phenomenon. He is an audio-first author - most books reach Audible months or a year before print - and the shelf is short, orderly, and still moving: Bobiverse book six arrived in audio in September 2026, book seven is untitled, and in 2025 Lord Miller Productions acquired the film rights. Does the reading order matter?

Publication order, with the Bobiverse as the spine: We Are Legion (2016), For We Are Many (2017), All These Worlds (2017) - the original trilogy, and All These Worlds ends cleanly enough that the trilogy alone is a complete story. Heaven's River (2020), Not Till We Are Lost (2024) and The Infinite Extent (2026) continue it; the newest is audio-first with print in January 2027, so check the format before buying. Book seven exists but is untitled - the working title was dropped after John Scalzi used the same name. Between trilogies read the standalones in any order: The Singularity Trap (2018) is the strongest, Feedback (2020) and Roadkill (2022) are lighter, Flybot (2025) is the newest. Quantum Earth is its own two-book series - Outland (2015) came first but reads fine second, Earthside (2023) took ten years to arrive. Nothing in the standalones spoils the Bobiverse and nothing in the Bobiverse needs the standalones
