Brent Weeks Books in Order
Brent Weeks is the publisher who bet on himself: he spent years writing the book he wanted to read, got an agent, and landed a three-book deal that released the entire Night Angel trilogy in a single autumn - October, November, December 2008 - making him one of the fastest debut-to-shelf names in modern fantasy. The Night Angel books (an orphaned gutter rat becomes an immortal magical assassin) became a gateway-drug classic; Lightbringer (2010-2019) is his bigger, stranger epic, where magic is light and drafting a color slowly drives you mad. In 2023 he returned to the Night Angel world with Nemesis, first of a planned Kylar trilogy. The order question has one trap - people hear Lightbringer is better and start there, then spoil Night Angel's ending - and this page sequences all nine (2008–present).
Where to start
The Way of Shadows (2008), Night Angel #1 - Azoth the guild rat, Durzo Blint the master assassin, and the coldest apprenticeship in the genre. It is the debut, so expect debut roughness, but the trilogy is one continuous story told in three months of publication.

Does the reading order matter?
Two worlds, both in publication order. Night Angel: The Way of Shadows, Shadow's Edge, Beyond the Shadows (all 2008, released Oct-Dec back to back) - one story, one ending; read straight through. Then Lightbringer: The Black Prism (2010), The Blinding Knife (2012), The Broken Eye (2014), The Blood Mirror (2016), The Burning White (2019) - complete, five books, the story of Gavin Guile the Prism and his bastard Kip. The Perfect Shadow (2011) novella slots between the two trilogies for Night Angel completists. Then the return: Night Angel Nemesis (April 2023) begins the Kylar Chronicles, a planned new trilogy in the Night Angel world set a generation on - book two has no announced date. Do not read Nemesis before the original trilogy: it assumes you know how that story ended.
Which one is the best?
Beyond the Shadows (2008) for the ending that made the trilogy's reputation; The Blinding Knife (2012), the series-stopper on which most readers lock in; and The Burning White (2019), a finale that landed the five-book payload.
